My Gallery

If I had a chance to open a gallery, I would definitely buy my mom’s favorite pictures. As far as I am not a huge fan of art, I do not have a lot of favorite paintings, that is why in this list of works of art most of them are my mom’s choices.

1. Repin I.E. — Portrait of Leo Tolstoy (1887)

My mom is a teacher of Russian language and literature, so she really enjoys the paintings that depict different Russian writers. That is why the work by Repin would be presented in my gallery.

2. Karl Bryullov — The Last Day of Pompeii (1830–1833)

4. Valentin Serov — Girl with Peaches (1887)

5. Isaac Levitan — Golden Autumn (1895)

6. Isaac Levitan — Evening Bells (1892)

7. Isaac Levitan — Above The Eternal Peace (1894)

This particular painting is the number one in the top of my mom’s favorite paintings. It is also the very first work of art which I think about when someone mentions “art” or “paintings”. This picture symbolizes peace and calmness, and my mom can look at this painting for hours.

Moreover, the chapel depicted in the picture is presumably did not exist in real life, or it looked differently. Scientists even suppose that the view from which the painter was depicting his masterpiece, was created in his head, because scientists could not find any place in that area that looked close to the painting.

However, my parents went there (the place is called Plyos or in Russian Плёс in Ivanovo region) to the Levitan museum and to this presumed place.

10. Gustav Klimt — The Woman in Gold or Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I (1907)

The last but not the least — my personal choice. After watching the movie ‘Woman in Gold’ I fell in love with this masterpiece. I am enamored of how the painter was so detailed with depicting all these little golden parts and different patterns. I feel like this painting and the woman in it reflect power and strength, thus I would be happy to buy it, if I had a chance.
