Drugs in NN

As a native of Nizhny Novgorod, the topic of drugs is nothing new or surprising to me. I live in the district where there is a quite high crime rate and, of course, drug use. This theme has been constantly revolved around my life one way or another because people are trying to get rid of this problem in every way.

So, let’s find out what types of drugs are popular now in NN. Among young people, the most popular such things as snus and snuff (tobacco products). Among the older people, mephedrone, methadone and others are more popular.

Speaking about the anti-drugs programs, in Nizhny Novgorod there are several programs are held such as video-lectures (e.g. “Всем миром против наркотиков”), social surveys, presentations by the MIA of Russia, seminars, etc. Also, in every school, college and university the teachers are obliged to conduct thematic lessons.

Now we know what the government do to prevent the dope addiction. However, the problem of drug use still exist, so let’s find out are there any rehabilitation centers in our city.

To my surprise, I found more that ten clinics that help people to get rid of the addiction. It was a surprise for be because I actually didn’t think a lot about this problem. I’m happy to understand that our city and country tries to to direct people in the right direction.

To my mind, the most important point in this theme is the ways to solve the problem of dope addiction.

1. Firstly, I think that prohibition of drugs is not really effective as many teenagers are being involved in this only because it’s prohibited, because it’s ‘forbidden fruit’ that they want to try.
2. Secondly, there are still have to exist anti-drugs programs that I mentioned earlier.
3. Thirdly, I reckon that young people should have some open classes with some invited guests but these guests have to be ex-addicted (in remission). People will tell you about the problem in the first person and share the feelings and thoughts.
4. Moreover, I think there has to be punishment for addicted, but only for those who harm other people (who made an other person do drugs, who killed someone for a dose, etc.) and this information about punishment has to be shown on TV and in the Internet for people to know about that really well.

Dope addiction is one of the worst things that can happen to a person. We need to try to get rid of this problem, we must protect children from this, not let teenagers fall for this bait and do everything so that life circumstances do not lead adults to this. Only if we talk more about this problem, we will be able to make people’s lives better, without drugs.
